Conant Metal & Light History
After almost 30 years of doing business as Conant Custom Brass, Inc., we decided to change our name to Conant Metal & Light, Inc.
The opportunity arose in 2008 when Weems and Plath, a nautical instrument maker in Annapolis MD, acquired our weather instrument manufacturing division and the "Conant Custom Brass" brand name.
This transition left our job shop and retail divisions well positioned to take advantage of the strong domestic market for specialized decorative metalwork and innovative lighting solutions. Since our passion and focus is on metalworking and lighting, the name change was a no-brainer.
No other changes were made. Our corporate structure, address, tax & employer ID numbers, address etc. all remain unchanged. Please reference our new name, Conant Metal & Light, Inc. in all communications.
As Conant Metal & Light, Inc., our mission is "To be recognized nationally as a creative force working wonders with metal and light" and you play an important role in helping us fulfill this mission. The future is bright for Conant Metal & Light, and we look forward to working with you under that name.
Conant Custom Brass was founded in 1979 by Stephen Conant, then a 23-year-old kid with a passion for metalwork and a college degree to back it up. From a small brick garage illuminated by two fluorescent shop lights, Steve soon established a reputation as a preeminent craftsman with a knack for restoration and custom metalwork. Steve Conant - Then
Now that kid is 50 years old, and the one-man shop he established has grown to occupy 12,000 square feet, employ 11 talented and dedicated workers, and house a store full of treasures, including hundreds of lights, old and new.
Today Conant Metal & Light Inc. is recognized internationally by architects, designers, and discriminating consumers as a creative force working wonders with metal and light. We provide a complete line of metal-related services, including antique restoration and repair and the fabrication of custom hardware and light fixtures. The scale of our work ranges from one-of-a-kind pieces to production runs of any number.
We stand behind our Mission Statement and our commitment to quality.
