Lighting Design and Fabrication

Custom FabricationWe can turn your dreams into reality. In addition to the thousands of custom lights we have created for homes and businesses throughout the world, we have fabricated specialty architectural components for leading architects and designers that grace homes and public spaces worldwide. From railings and floor grates in museums and libraries, to ornate grillwork in Kuwait's government halls, we can fabricate just about anything you can imagine.

Regardless of the size or scope of the project, each piece we create receives the same degree of attention and precision from our talented artisans. We work with a vast array of materials, fabrication methods and finishes to create products that consistently "wow" our clients.

We are always fascinated by new ideas and project opportunities. Many times, providing quotes and project plans is almost as much fun as doing the work. If you have an idea but are not sure how to implement it, we can develop sketches and project plans for your review. We can quote from shop drawings, simple sketches or even detailed descriptions.

If you have a specific project in mind, email us with your needs or call us toll-free at 1-800-832-4482.

NYC RestaurantsPeriod Restaurants in New York City

Through our association with Grayling Design of Brooklyn, NY, we have helped to bring classic elegance to three culinary landmarks in New York City: Balthazar Restaurant, Schiller's Liquor Bar, and Pastis Café. Enhancing the 1920s architecture and decor of each establishment are light fixtures designed to reflect the regional style of the Roaring Twenties. The decor of these fine restaurants is reason enough to visit, but the food is spectacular, too.

Sculpture ChandelierSculptural Chandelier

When one of our customers told us about his vision for a dramatic, sculptural lighting fixture to grace the entrance of his majestic home, we jumped at the chance to make his dream a reality.

The result is this spectacular, 15' fixture comprised of 35 pieces of bronze, which cascades in front of a magnificent stone fireplace.

In addition to serving as a commanding piece of art, the fixture provides decorative ambient light as well as artwork-illuminating task light. It was hand-wrought in our studios by metalwork artisan Kirk Williams.

HSRFHealth Science Research Facility UVM College of Medicine

When the University of Vermont Medical School needed something exciting to bring life and light to the entry of its new Health Science Research Facility, they asked Conant Metal & Light for a proposal. Steve Conant, a UVM alumni, gladly stepped up to design and build this dynamic 17' X 8' solid brass illuminated mobile.

Suspended thirty feet overhead, this LED illuminated sculpture provides a dramatic focal point, visible from each of four floors of the open atrium. Its dramatic twist was inspired by the double helix of a DNA molecule while it's LED light source was chosen for its energy efficiency and low maintenance cost.

Honor Guard Buckles

Ever wonder where those shiny brass buckles on the uniforms of the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery come from? Just in time for your appearance on "Jeopardy," we are pleased to tell you.

Over the years, we have produced about 1,500 brass components for the uniforms of the prestigious U.S. Navy Honor Guard -- "heel brasses" (used on inner boot heels to make a sharp sound when they're clicked together), "C clips (which hold the two layers of the web belt together), and "box clips" (which keep the web belt tight).

The Honor Guard stands at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, assists with funerals and performs other ceremonial duties. It is a source of great pride to know that we play a role, however small, in these noble tasks.
