Custom Lighting Custom Lighting Design and Fabrication
Your passion for beauty wherever metal meets light is something we share at Conant Metal and Light.
At Conant Metal & Light, we shine at turning imagination into reality. We have created thousands of lights for homes and businesses throughout the world. Each project, whether a desk lamp or a cathedral chandelier, is the result of our unique mix of wonder and precision.
Our Custom Division creates one-of-a-kind lighting to your specifications. Our talented craftspeople work with a vast array of materials, fabrication methods, finishes and lamping. We embrace new project opportunities with enthusiasm and welcome the opportunity to prepare quotes and proposals. We can quote from detailed shop drawings or simple sketches, or we can develop our own proposals and cost estimates based on a concept you have in mind or a mood you want to achieve.
Among our many custom lighting projects, the following are particularly notable. More information about these and other custom work is available on our Notable Commissions page.
The preservation and fabrication of 75 historic fixtures for “The Mount,” the estate of novelist Edith (The Age of Innocence) Wharton in Lenox, Massachusetts.
The design and construction of reproduction gasolier lights (now electrified) for the Vermont Statehouse in Montpelier.
The production of 46 ornate reproduction fixtures for Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri.
Lighting design and restoration for numerous colleges and universities, including Yale, Harvard, Wesleyan University, Middlebury College, the University of Vermont, Vermont Law School, and Champlain College.
Monumental reproductions and historic fixture restoration work for well-known churches and cathedrals.
Countless projects for celebrities — rock stars, international dignitaries and others — as well as Disney, Universal Studios, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Crabtree & Evelyn, and other corporations.

"Your ability to transform our collective ideas into beautiful, yet functional pieces of art is really quite amazing. Each one of the lights we created together is not only innovative and exciting but captures the essence of the forward-thinking nature of the projects. It is always a thrill to watch the process from design to fabrication through to the final installation. And what a joy to see them now illuminating each new space, adding wonder and delight to all who see them. Our building designs are clearly enhanced by your efforts.
"Working with you and your crew is always a pleasure, and we are lucky to have such a terrific resource right in our backyard. Thank you again, and I look forward to the next opportunity for us to collaborate."
