Mag's Heart Collection

Steve says it best: "Few men are as lucky as I to have found their soulmate on the first try. Yup, Mags was a college fling, and we're as tight now as we were then. Luckier still am I that she appreciates my love of working with my hands! What this means is that every day before Valentine's Day, I can work late in my shop without even a slight twinge of guilt.

"For 27 years now, without interruption, I've produced a heart-shaped token of my love in almost every material I can think of. Sometimes I've worked with raw materials I've happened to have around such as glass, marble, soap stone, brass, copper, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sterling silver, gold (gold leaf over styrofoam), leather, wood and Lucite.
Other times I've fashioned pennies, a brick, balloons, wooden spools, aluminum foil and fake fur into heart-shaped mementos. It's a labor of love in the truest sense of the word."

In 1997, when the restoration of the deteriorated 1902 estate and gardens of famed American author Edith Wharton began, trustees sought out the best and the brightest to restore the site to its original glory. Thus, when the group determined that a centerpiece chandelier was beyond repair, they turned to Conant Metal and Light to manufacture a reproduction fixture true to the original. The elegant chandelier now commands attention as a focal point in the restored, 42-room mansion. The Mount is a National Historic Landmark notable for its stature in American architecture and design as well as for its owner and designer, the late author Edith Wharton, the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for literature.

In addition to the mansion, the estate includes a Georgian Revival stable, three acres of formal gardens and additional acres of scenic woodlands.
